United Premier Soccer League

For the 2018 season, we are proud to announce that we have joined the largest semi-professional soccer league in the country:  United Premier Soccer League. The UPSL has 160 teams divided into 4 Conferences:  West, South, East and Midwest. Our club will compete in the Midwest Conference, which is comprised of 23 teams divided into 4 Divisions. We are placed in the North Division. The top team in each Division will qualify for the Midwest Playoffs on July 28-29. The winner of the Midwest Conference will participate in the National Playoffs that will crown the UPSL National Champion in mid-August. This is a great league to be part of and we are looking forward to the challenge.

Team History

The Madison 56ers Soccer Club was founded in 1956. The club has a rich history with its adult programs, including a Men's National Amateur Championship in 1992.

The 56ers UPSL Men's team is the continuation of the NPSL and PLA team that was founded in 2005. As a member of the NPSL, the club won the Midwest Division 4 times - 2006, 2007, 2010 and 2012, which makes the 56ers the most successful club in the Midwest Division of the NPSL. Today, the 56ers compete in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL).

The 56ers UPSL Men's team plays their home games at Breese Stevens Field, located at 917 East Mifflin Street. It is the oldest playing field in Madison, Wisconsin and has a seating capacity of 5,000 people.

Cristian Brei is the team's General Manager. Cristian is a FIFA licensed players' agent, registered with the U.S. Soccer Federation. Being an agent involved a great extent of traveling throughout the United States, but also to traditional soccer-rich countries such as: Germany, The Netherlands, France, Brazil, Mexico to name just a few. This has allowed Cristian to observe how soccer is run at some of the best clubs in the world, from youth academies all the way to fully professional adult teams, and he is using his experience and knowledge to develop a long-term strategy that will take our team to a higher level.
